egluuser
Morning all. We've just taken delivery of two chickens, a classic and 2m run - and quickly decided that the little darlings make too much mess on the lawn. So I have just completed a woodchip base following the omelet instructions (as below). I have now put the woodchip in and the eglu on top. I''ve compacted the woodchip down as much as I can (and fastened it down with tent pegs) but I'm slightly concerned that a cunning fox could tunnel under the skirt by shoving the woodchip aside. Would I be better off taking the eglu out, removing the woodchip, putting the eglu back in and then the woodchip on top? I'd be very grateful foor any advice please. Thanks http://www.omlet.co.uk/guide/guide.php?view=Chickens&cat=Eglu+guide
pavo121
I have paving slabs running around the run/cube. They can't get under contcrete !!!
chestnutmare
I don't think woodchip on the skirting would be any bother for a fox to dig up. I would put heavy stones along the skirting to weigh it down.
MissPug+Chooks
Do you have any edging around the woodchip? If its close enough to the skirts I wouldnt imagine a fox would get under it- when ours was on woodchip there was about half a foot until skirting which meant no room!
