rachel19 Posted March 3, 2012 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Don't Sky leave the box with you if you cancel and have been with them long enough? If so, it will just revert to being freesat with a recorder i would think. We use an old sky box that was left with us for our freesat but it doesn't have the recording capabilities. Same sky menu etc you just dont get the channels you pay for. They may have changed this policy now as our box is quite old.......im sure someone else will know or it might be worth looking into. Couperwife Posted March 3, 2012 Share Posted March 3, 2012 A few years ago we downgraded from sky to (as the woman in sky so charmingly put it...) council telly Anyway, we lost all pre-recorded stuff and lost the ability to record. We ended up having so many issues with sky that we dumped it and used cable. It may have changed, but I would check with sky... Lesley Posted March 4, 2012 Share Posted March 4, 2012 We dumped Sky as we were paying for a full package and they wouldn't replace our obsolete box with a new one only a refurbished, and we had to pay for an engineer to bring the refurb out and set it up. We changed to a Humax P9300 which has all the Freeview channels which you can record, pause, rewind etc. - a one off payment, no monthly charges. We've had ours a couple of years now so there will be new generation ones around so have a look at all the PVRs on a comparison table if you can. I am going to miss not being able to see Formula 1 practise and qualifying and some of the live races though You have the option of using a Top Up TV card for Sky Sports one and two but you'd end up paying around £24 a month for 9 months just to watch the GP.
