chuckmum6
It is only just March and I have my first highly hormonal hen Daisy, of last years hatch, is making another bid for motherhood, she first tried when she was only 4 months old, when she had a dozen eggs hidden behind the garden shed! She is screeching at me, plucking her belly, trying to peak me and is all fluffed up, grrrrrrr. She spent last night in 'The coop of shame' and will remain there until she snaps out of it. This is bad news that the broodies have started already, my Pekins haven't laid yet, but will probably bypass this and go straight into broody mood until September when they cease doing anything until next spring! Thank goodness for my Sussex girls. I am not intending to hatch anything this year as we maybe moving, got to resist got to resist..... bouldercroft
The lovely Rita started laying on Monday - I expect her to be in full broody obnoxiousness by the weekend! And as soon as she is I'll pop some eggs under her and let her be the mummy she wants to be

tracyann
Not had a broody yet, not bad going considering I've had 12 girls, but perhaps soon I will get one. Having to resort to incubators... I'd love one of my girls to go broody.

chuckmum6
my broody has 8 3+week old chicks she went broody in January just as it went cold Pictures please! She is now out of the coop of shame and has stayed away from the nestbox so far, I still think she could have had another day, but it was so lovely in the garden I felt sorry for her and let her out!
