TAJ
It was only a few weeks ago I was saying only the new ex-batts were laying - they are still laying 3-4 a day, but some days I am getting 7-8 from the posh old girls - a dozen eggs in a day is a bit much to manage! Someone in the village wants 18 for B&B and 2 dozen have gone down the pub for sale tonight - that should help the two full egg skelters, plus more eggs I was drowning in get back to a normal level. Daphne
Isn't it lovely when this happens tho - the herald of times-of-plenty (hopefully)
bigmommasally
Wow! That's good I thought my girls were doing well as we got 7 eggs from 8 hens yesterday. I was so pleased I went out and bought an egg collecting basket today I hope yesterday wasn't a one off, as I'll look a bit silly trooping up the garden with my basket just to collect 1 or 2 eggs

They like to keep us guessing. Tracy
Lavenders_Blue
Spring must most definitely be on the way as we have lift off in the egg department here too The egg skelter was heaving the other day and I was just thinking I would need to pickle some eggs to store them when a lady who buys eggs from us occasionally knocked on the door asking if we have a dozen eggs to sell. Was so pleased to be able to sell them and it's made the egg skelter look a little lighter... for now.
Julia W
I was rather suprised this morning when I went down to the chickens to find 8 eggs. Not unusual you might say, but I only have 6 hens. They only laid five yesterday so I suppose one might have been laid later in the day but is it possible for hens to lay more than one egg a day? lillybettybabs
They can play catch up, If they have missed a day they sometime lay in the night then again the next morning. I have lots - i think it's going to be Quiche for tea!
Julia W
Thanks lillybettybabs, but that would only account for their being 7 eggs not 8, still confused.
