smarty456 Posted March 14, 2012 Share Posted March 14, 2012 hello . okay 14 out of 48 eggs hatched,and it's been almost a week since they hatched, and this morning i came and there was a dead chick ,does anyone know what happened??? I'd check the food, water and heat are all as they should be, exclude draughts, give everything a good clean and put it down to experience. Redwing Posted March 14, 2012 Share Posted March 14, 2012 Some things to check.. Are they eating and drinking ok Are they too hot or too cold? (if huddling together under the lights they are too cold, if they are a long way from the lights they are too hot) Is the chick crumb in date? could it be Coccidiosis? (the most common cause of chick death) Sometimes you do just get the odd one that doesnt make it.
