Angie
I have discovered a leaking ballcock in the upstairs toilet......no overflow in the cistern so have had a leak from the handle down the side of the cistern luckily into the bathroom cloths and brush tub, so water is contained . Just ! Called a couple of known plumbers to come and replace ballcock, arm and valve as it is all plastic in there. No one wants to come and do it , such a small job ........shame on them . My lovely friend gave me a number and Veronica is coming to do the job for me for £ 40.00 . Yes a LADY plumber and on a saturday for only £ 40.00 , she is coming after she drops her boys off at football and before she goes to sainsburys'. What a lovely lovely Lady. Hats off to Lady trades people . Wonderful , what more can i say.

I organised her to come and do the ceiling in my bathroom and told OH that the plasterer would be there before I left for work. Never told him he was a she. What a shock he got when she arrived. He didn't mind just unexpected. She did a great job. I never did meet her though. We have moved now but would have used her again.
Angie
Lol chickenshack, She left with a chunk of fresh cake and a few eggs for brekki tomorrow. It is so nice to see women doing building and plumbing work, it really is time. And not a bit of mess in the bathroom to clean up , very very efficient , her number is on the emergency list on the fridge.

Lesley
I'm glad it all worked well I used to work as a plumber....with my Ex........over 20 years ago now. I loved it but it was even more rare then than it is now and I did have to get used to the strange looks at the plumber's merchants
snowberry
I've read about a few female plumbers & electricians. They are very popular with the elderly & vunerable. No wonder when you hear of the horror stories on Watchdog (& here)... If I had a skilled bone in my body I would do it....
Chicken shack
I never watch cowboy builders because I start to think everyone is out to stitch you up. I am a worrier and it upsets me to see people being ripped off. It also sadens me to think there are people who actually do.
