jenjins1 Posted April 9, 2012 Share Posted April 9, 2012 I have 5 hens aged, 4, 3 and 2 and this winter egg production has been very poor. I have been keeping chickens for three years and this is the first winter that they have been so poor. Even the two youngest hens that are two have stopped. As you haven't wormed them in a while, I'd start them on a course of Flubenvet as soon as. As some of your hens are on the elderly side, they may have come to the end of their productive life anyway, but they should be wormed all the same. I did wonder why all of them had stopped and it is rather a tell tale sign but wasn't sure how significant worms could be to them. Off i go to buy some Flubenvet and hopefully we shall see a difference! One of them keeps eating the egg they lay which is really annoying. I did think about re homing them and getting new ones but felt really guilty doing it and i dont have space to add without rehoming them.
