Geoid
Today I was going back to Derby after the Easter break. I had a large suitcase and my bike to take back, so I decided to cycle to London St Pancras Station, whilst my mum took the tube and my suitcase. After getting lost several times (thanks to TFL and their brilliant signage) I ended up on the A40 (which leads to the station), the A40 is very very scary, more like a motorway than a 40MPH A road, so I decided to get off at the next off ramp. I made it to the station with minutes to spare before my train left, but my mum (with the suitcase) was no where to be found. 10 minutes later she showed up, the tube train she was on had been delayed. This meant I had missed my train (with 1st class reservation ), so I went to the ticket counter and explained what happened. The person said she couldn't do anything (she also said the tube was showing good service, which it wasn't), so I had to buy another ticket for £40! My original ticket had cost half that price. So I went to the platform, with the other train about to leave, got to the bike storage bit, at the front of the train, but the door was locked and the conductor wouldn't let me on! So this train departed without me (again!) But there was another train heading to Leicester, so I got onto that one and changed at Leicester, got onto the second train that left me (somehow the 3rd train overtook the 2nd train) and arrived in Derby, at last. Im off for a lie down!
patsylabrador
That sounds exhausting. I can't imagine cycling on the A40, as you say it's like a motorway. I got caught up in the tube problems too. There was an incident at Finchley Road, a jumper I think which messed up things a bit. Hope you don't have to go through that again and your mum would have been worrying. Daphne
That sounds a complete nightmare and you sound a lot more patient than me, I hope the rest of your evening is a darn sight more pleasant
