Creative15
Hey guys I just purchased some scaly leg spray for my bantam pekins and it says do not get onto feathers which is really hard as they have feathery feet. Any ideas??
Plum
Not heard that before. Perhaps spray it in a pot then apply it by brush Have fun

Plum
I don't but I do put diatom in the nestbox, dustbath and any chook that's broody. If I have any anxieties they get a blitz with Johnsons mite spray and all new additions get a spray. So far so good - madly looking for wood to touch. Though one of them did have scaley leg mite. Creative15
Oh alright I use Johnsons Virenza Poultry Disinfectant in the coop and Ive ordered Net-tex Poultry Mite Kill Liquid for the coop too. I used Johnsons Poultry Mite And Lice Powder but found it not to be very good. I looked at Barrier red mite powder and barrier louse powder and was wondering whether they are better. Sadly I did lose one of my chickens to scaly leg as I was new to keeping them and didnt know what to do. I do now treating them every 6 weeks so touch wood no more scaly leg. The Dogmother
If you want a good powder then Buz Busters is your best bet. It comes in a shaker or a larger tub. Contains permethrin and kills bugs/lice/mites.
