Candled the eggs today

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Well we are just about here at day 10 of incubation and Belle is still sitting on the 6 eggs I put under her :D

So I thought I should have a little look to see if I could see anything. I was going to wait until tonight but once again my excitement and impatience made me look

Now this is only my 2nd time hatching so I'm not very experienced but I do think I have a little clue now as to what's possibly a chick

All three white eggs sadly looked like there wasa nothing in them - they were very easy to see into and I didn't see any black chick blob, I did see an air sac but I think that was all. I'm going to leave these with her for a few more days just to double check. Now I'm pretty sure nothing is in them and in a few days if I confirm that do I take them away all together or one at a time or what? Will it upset Belle? Or will she just be happier on her other eggs ?

I did forget to mention, that whilst it was harder to see into the brown eggs I could see viens (just) and there was a definite black blob! So yeah  we have a possibility of three chicks!

Whilst I'm asking, what do I do if none hatch? Do I buy some day old chicks and try and sneak them under? Or do I move her off and shut her out of the house? What do I do? I'm thinking of buying some more eggs and incubating these (prob should have done this 10 days ago, but not to add to her lot obviously they would be 10 days behind.

Anyway, feeling sort of happy as it looked like we have 3 possible chicks but now also worried only one will hatch!
