kissinuk Posted May 1, 2012 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Our Light Sussex started acting a bit weird a couple of weeks ago, stopped eating and became pretty lethargic, in the past some of our older girls acted this way just before they died. A quick trip to the vets diagnosed an impacted crop and we were shown how to massage it to remove the blockage as well as being given liquid parafin to put into the crop 1ml twice a day (I have read mixed advice on this but it worked). I'm happy to say that she is now 100% fighting fit and making up for the weeks of not eating! I really wish we knew about this earlier as it could have been the problem with our previous girls. The chicken in question regularly ate from the grit bowl and I have a feeling this solidified in the crop (as it does in the bowl when it gets wet), you could feel the grit when doing the massage.
