Hatching question

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is my first time for hatching in an incubator so I need to be very clear! I put my quail eggs in 2.30 pm on 5th May. I have a brinsea octagan 20. It seems day 13 I stop the cradle and increase the humidity - what do I increase it to? 60 or 70? and how will I do this? will I add more water to the incubator? the temperature has been 37.7 and humidity has been between 40 - 45% every day. If I put more water in the incubator, how likely are they once they have hatched to jump out of the egg tray and drown? this is my first time so please be nice and not roll your eyes!!!! Thank you!

The hatching tray on the Octagon 20 should fit the whole bottom of the incubator covering the two water channels so chicks should not be able to access the water below

Personally I wouldnt increase the humidity too much for quail, maybe fill just one channel with water

The vent can be closed or open a bit to adjust humidity too

Aim for maybe 50-55% ish

We won't roll our eyes!

Welcome to the forum :D

Are they Japanese Quail eggs?

I'm also hatching some Japs at the moment which went in on the 3rd, so due 2 days before you! 66 were developing last week so should get at least a few!

I'd stop turning on day 15 rather than 13, as they take 18 days to hatch (hatch)
