blueandwhite
Oh dear I'm moving house on Thursday and although people on here came up with great ideas about keeping the girls safe in my new garden I decided not to risk it. There are no boundary fences and a drive which opens onto the road so anyone could walk down and take them from eglu/run. Also garden is covered in crazy paving which is being dug up so too much disruption for them. So until I get the fences up they are going to my sisters. I've just started getting the eglu ready and it's really sad!
Salop Chuck
I am sure your sister will give you visiting rights - they are still yours and will no doubt come back to you when you have sorted out your garden. You are being very responsible about the welfare of your hens since if they were visible to the road they would be vulnerable to theft or worse. Well done you for doing the right thing. Ain't Nobody Here
I'm sure you've made the right decision . You'll have enough to worry about without constantly thinking about their safety. Gpod luck with the move .
blueandwhite
Thanks at least the cat will get the freedom of the old garden for 3 days before she goes to the cattery (only overnight in case she decides to run off!) Just spent a while sitting with them and took the netting off the grass - they can't believe their luck and are rampaging round having a great old time. blueandwhite
Well it is strange waking up and no girls. But they travelled well, the eglu and run fitted in the back of brother in laws car (was concerned it wouldn't) and once set up they went straight in. As soon as we got there a neighbour came over and told us he wanted an eglu and some chooks! The girls settled in and were eating, drinking and scratching about within minutes. Feeling better now, just missing them already.
