Margaret
As some or you Lovely peoply know, two weeks ago I adopted two of Chubby Chooks lovely girlies. Well this weekend the barrier came down in the WIR, and the seem to be ok Violet, lowest of the pecking order and no longer wants to be is being a bit of a thug, running up and trying to intimidate, especially tiny Daisy but all thing considering going great, One thing I must confess to.... Mid week I had OH put bumper bits on the big girls, just didnt want anybody to get hurt as the wee ones are so small ( size not age ) and having done lots of intros over the years I know how quickly things can turn nasty, as I work full time can not always be there, and I know Violet can be a bit of a loose cannon. Anyway, hated myself for getting them put on them BUT, and I know this will cause some controversy I think as a short term measure they are really good. I admit they look strange but after 10 mins the girls are not bothered, they can eat ( except corn on the cob ) which proves they can peck hard, but they are fine. Girls freeranging together at weekend and mostly fine in the run and even all slept together in the Cube. I am getting up really early, to be there when they wake up, (only had 4 hours sleep Saturday ) but feel;ing really chuffed that things are settling down. Have two more Silkies to be collected end of August though
Luvachicken
I'm glad things are going well. It's nice to read other peoples experiences. I'm hoping to get 3 more to add to the 2 I have left - so any information is a good read
