Groovychook
Thanks for the reply My GP has suggested that I go down the herbal route first to see if I can handle things without any meds. I didn't get the impression that she was anti HRT- maybe she thinks my symptoms aren't severe enough I must admit that I'd rather not go down that route if I can help it... I have endometriosis and read somewhere online that it's not advised such cases although my doctor didn't give those reasons. I very naively thought that at 46, I had a good few years before the start of the menopause!
Charlottechicken
This is really interesting and informative. I know I will hit the menopause sooner rather than later after having a hysterectomy just over 2 years ago now. Interestingly, even though I still have my ovaries I have no more monthly symptoms, such as mood swings, violent headaches, joint pains, cramps etc. I notice some have mentioned Mirena, unfortunately I took the pill contining levonorgestrol (the hormone in Mirena) which is called microgynon, for a few months and it made me very ill. Just a word of warning for anyone who finds Mirena doesn't deliver what they are told, it may not suit you and I understand that this is typically around 20% of ladies.
