cheekymonkey68
Hi, One of my girls has started gaping slightly, she occasionally sneezes and had a runny beak last week... she's dry now tho. Shes laying still eating and drinking well, but has developed watery poo! I wormed them at the beginning of april with flubenvet. they are about 35weeks old. Should I be thinking to worm her/ them again just incase she has gape worms? Or could it be something else ?? only one out of the 4 is affected. I might be being paranoid as it is also very hot out 26c Thanks, marion
Parsley
They do pant when they are hot, mine have been doing it today Or they do reach up with their beaks open to rearrange their crops after eating. It could be either of these
Egluntyne
Sounds as to if the hot weather is getting to her. Give her plenty of cold water and shade. Some tips for caring for hens in hot weather here Of course, if she seems worse it would be worth taking her to a vet.
angeluk69
Mine are really struggling with the heat it seems, as I've only had my girls a week I contacted the supplier in a blind panic...then I read the hot weather topic and spent a bit of time spraying the girls with some cold waterand they soon cooled down and were very happy again, I've also changed their water a couple of times today as it was getting very warm and made sure that they have shade as the sun moves round. cheekymonkey68
Thanks for that, I did notice yesterday she was holding her wings out to the side as if ventilating :) I'm just off out to give them some icecubes and water with cucumber. I'll keep a close eye on her tho just in case.. I love having so many chicken mums for advice on Omlet, it makes it so much better and less scary for us newbies.
