sparkysmum
My E.S. has just left school & is trying to find a summer job before uni. He attended a food hygiene course today & will receive his certificate in due course. Hopefully this will help him getting a waiting type job. Middle child is also looking for a summer job in hotels etc. He couldn't attend food hygiene course as had to attend a 6th year conference in school. Was thinking that an on-line course might be a good idea but don't know if any of them are accredited & are the type employers are looking for. If anyone has any knowledge of this I'd love to hear your views. Many thanks, as always. Alli x
Ain't Nobody Here
I don't know much about them but I do know that a couple of my colleagues are doing the on-line course so it must be OK for working in schools.
sparkysmum
Vicki, Hi. Ant is hoping it might lead to a job in a hotel for the summer. Would it be cheeky to ask which course your colleagues are doing Thanks in advance, Alli x
Ain't Nobody Here
Not sure, I'm afraid. I can ask next week if you like?
sparkysmum
that would be great Vicki, thanks. In the meantime, if anyone else knows about such courses I'd love to hear your views. Alli x
Chickpea
http://www.saferfoodhandler.co.uk/index.html do a nationally accredited one, you can choose between retail, catering or manufacturing and is only £12. I'll be doing it when my current one runs out!
Sam Palmer
I did the Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene for Catering online course in April. Our county council (Surrey) offers it free as part of their Early Years training. I did it whilst still working in a nursery, but am registering as a childminder, so would be required to do it anyway for that. It only took a couple of hours and they sent out a very nice certificate afterwards. It was done with a company called High Speed Training and normally costs £25, so if Chickpea knows of somewhere that does it for half that, it would be worth going there! It was interesting and useful, however, I would say that as it's an online course, you don't get any of the information to download and keep for reference (maybe others are different?) which would have been really useful.
