skwump
I have a 14 week old silkie who developed sour crop a few days ago. It looks like we've successfully treated it (with yogurt, garlic and canesten) and her cop feels good today. She's eating but still quiet and subdued. BUT she seems to be rather uncoordinated and appears to be limping. I can't see any cause for this and was wondering if chickens could become uncoordinated when run-down or ill? She has been vaccinated for Mareks. Any ideas?
Egghead68
I don't know but I would take her to a vet. She doesn't sound well. Have you checked her for scaley-leg and bumblefoot? Good luck.
skwump
Taken her to the vet (twice). Also spoken to chicken vet. Her feet/legs appear normal. Advice so far is to wait and see. They say it could be Mareks, even though she has been double vaccinated against this. I'm hoping she's just recovering from a traumatic bout of sour crop
Egghead68
I hope it's not Mareks and she makes a swift recovery.

migsy
What was the outcome?
skwump
Miss Muffet is still alive, eating well and living in a box inside. She is finishing a course of antibiotics and treatment for her crop and digestive system. However she remains very unbalanced and uncoordinated and I'm not sure why or what to do to help. I think the fact that she has survived this long has to be a good sign, but there doesn't seem to be much improvement in her movement. At least she is happy and not in any pain though. Any suggestions would be welcome!
migsy
Thanks for the update. One of my chickens has suddenly developed a lack of co-ordination and I was searching the forum. I hope she Miss Muffet stays well.
