cluckingmad
Phew! Always find intros nervewracking, and this time we were introducing 7 new girls in two groups over a 2 week period... gibber. And... apart from the usual minor squabbles, all has passed incredibly peacefully! The pekins have now been FR with the established hens for over a week so are moving into the WIR in thier new and incredibly stylish purple eglu, the three new hybrid pullets will be moving into the green eglu within the enclosed run area so all can get used to each other! Never had to do such a large introduction before, but seems to have worked remarkably well... seems as though having so many new girls coming in within a short space of time has meant that no one hen has been picked on and everyone has settled to a nice agreeable pecking order without much fuss Now, to plan the alternations to the WIR to accomodate two eglu classics along with the existing cube...!
