One of my young girls I think is broody. Today we shut the door of the nesting box so she couldnt go back in. Well - she went mental - went up and down shrieking loudly - I was worried about complaints. ES said helpfully "OMG shoot her" OH could only remark that shes a girl who knows what she wants. Let her go back in for now till I rethink tactics. I wish I could have filmed her.

Sympathies. I was flown at by a furious araucana today after I'd manhandled her out of the nesting box for the second time and wheeched her about a bit to get some air around her under-carriage. She's now locked out.

I feel your pain - mines like a big white fluffy pancake. I have thrown her out several times. are Sussexs prone to broodiness does anyone know? reminded me of my boss

Is think they are. Our gwinnie was last yr & we ended up segregating her in the greenhouse! ( with a radio) she got sick of it in the end climbed over my head & gave up ( prefers radio 2?).

This yr she's had a couple of funny saturdays (only for the day bizarrely! ) particularly when it's house scrubbing. Day

Today was the first day that I had a good clear out of the house and my White Star pullet was shrieking like a cockerel and was stopping around not impressed! Even though she doesn't go in there during the day! I am sure she's getting louder too I wouldn't change her though

She was chucked out this am for cleaning and hasnt gone back yet (touches wood) - I was prepared to do a cold wash (i dont have a sinbin) as this worked with my others. At present shes dustbathing with her mates. She didnt throw a strop when I shut the door today. Probably the sweet smelling nest box isnt to modoms liking
