counturchickens
So, I'm planning a house move, where I will get a larger garden and will get a wir , so my girls will have plenty of room. I'm planning on having some more ex batts and maybe some hybrids later. My question is does anyone have 10 in a cube (as per the omlet website)? sparkysmum
I have 8 in a cube and there is room for loads more. Limiting factor is the run. My run area is at least 15 metres x 3 metres but in reality they f/r all day.
chick wiggle
I have had 16 in my cube! Their choice! there was plenty of other accomodation standing empty they all just decided to cuddle up together in there. I wouldnt actually recomend putting 16 in there though As Sparkysmum said, the main factor is the run space, and as yours free range all day then you should be fine with 10. Just remember it will need cleaning out more often with more birds in there, expecially in winter when they spend more time in the house. Space Chick
I agree with chick wiggle.... I've had 18 (some were bantams) deciding to all sleep in a cube together, despite other bedrooms available As long as you have a big enough walk in run, I personally think a cube is fine for up to 12 hybrid sized hens as a bedroom, although I would recommend another nest box if you have more than about 8 or 9.
