Minor damage to Kindle

Recommended Posts

I bought my Kindle just under a year ago. This morning I noticed that just under the screen but abouve the keyboard, there are hairline cracks on either side. They are pretty negligable but I'm wondering if they will get worse? Should I contact Amazon now before the warrenty runs out? I've noted in the past that those of you with Kindle problems say that Amazon do pretty good customer service. Thankies, Emma :D

That happened to mine - they swapped it with no questions asked & it was a month out of warranty.

They crack was tiny & radiated from the corner by the screen out......I check my new Kindle (I recently upgraded to the newer model) every week now.

The newer ones are far less prone to these cracks apparently.

Might be worth seeing if they will upgrade it to the newer more robust model for you while you are there,as the old keyboard model (I am assuming that is what you have?) was very prone to these cracks.

I didn't go for the touch as I read in the bath a lot & the screen won't work in a proper waterproof case - I got the new model one but with no keyboard.

I was surprised how different it looked to my old one

It also feels more substantial somehow...better finishing at the edges & corners.

If you do decide to sell & upgrade then don't even plug it in as all your books will go on & you will need to remove them again before you can sell it!

There are LOTS of cases of this sort of wear/damage,so she really shouldn't have sounded surprised - the chap I spoke to certainly wasn't!

I've changed my sons one twice! Once in warranty and once out of it - but I bought an extended warranty for three years which covered it. The customer service is excellent and hassle free!

Yep, I can't fault the customer service. I quite fancy the touch one as my phone is touch & I keep trying to swipe the screen of the Kindle to turn the page! I also find it a bit uncomfortable to hold while pressing the button to turn the page. Even with a protective case I wouldn't dare read it in the bath
