we hatched one just like this and i was told it was not a call?

Oh how sweet. If he looks like a toy duck and has kept that little short bill then I'm sure he is a call duck though I'm no expert. Will you get others to go with him?

hi we have 5 others in with him which are indian runners-although i'm thinking of trying to post some pics of them as they aren't like the pictures i've seen in books of runners! unfortunatlely its worked out that out of 6 ducks we've kept after hatching 4 of them are drakes i'm thinking maybe i'll bring him home and find him a wife

Can't you put all your boys together in a bachelor pad, as drakes get along providing there are not girlies around.

the ducks i refer to as "my" ducks are actually ducks that i hatched at the nursery where i work. we have invested in a WIR and extension and a lovely purple cube we've had the part of the orchard where they are housed "foxproofed"(a wildlife co. layed foxproof mesh over an 11msq area)so i don't think the headteacher/schoolbudget could run to any more cost its a thought i'll keep in mind tho as hadn't thought of that option many thanks
