bluekarin
So Neela is sleeping through the night from about 10.30/11.30pm till 6am But....... her bed is wet every morning She doesn't cry in the night and I get up as soon as she makes a noise in the morning. I have washed her bedding to see if this helps by removing the urine smell - I use Ariel bio, is that enough to get rid of it? She did have a proper bed but has soaked that and I don't think I can wash it, or if I can, it will take a week to dry properly. She is currently sleeping on a kids bed waterproof mat with a piece of vet bed fleece over the top. I think the vet bed is so good at wicking the wee away, she doesn't realise what she has done. Should I just let her sleep on the waterproof mat? I do take her out just before putting in her crate to sleep and she mostly goes for wees outside, just the odd accident indoors due to owner not noticing the signs She does have a small drink before bed, which I think might not help things, but I really thought she wouldn't wee where she sleeps. Help!
shemybelle
Hi I think you're probably right - the fleece will feel dry to her (that's why I use it to line cloth nappies), so she'll be less likely to work to hold it in. If I were you, I'd lose the fleece. It won't be pleasant for her to lie on her own urine, but I think it will encourage her to wait. It might still take some time as her body develops, but what she's learning during the day will also help. Lx
lillybettybabs
Limit the amount of water in her bowl at night, some people take the water bowl up completely (i'm not sure on this) also giving the evening feed earlier can help.
Lavenders_Blue
Could you set an alarm to get up in the night and take her out for a wee, even though she doesn't stir? A few days of this might be enough to get her used to asking to go/not soiling her bed?
bluekarin
I really don't want to be getting up in the night if I don't have to She was getting up at 3am every night for the first week and a bit and I found that very hard. I will try her on the waterproof mat, stopping drinks and food after 9pm and see if that helps, if not, then I'll get up in the night. Any other suggestions please let me know, but thank you all for the help so far
