GemmyLou-07
Hi, I was wondering could ducks have the hanging seed decoration and the corn n grit treat from in the omlet catalogue? If not what treats can they have?
chestnutmare
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the ingredients, ducks eat very much like chickens but they haven't got chicken's pointy beak to peck stuff to the same extent.
jensen1234
So i have read Marmite on bread is a good treat?! very good for them as well due to the high content of vitamin b1-2. Cheers
coppers
Ducks can't peck really, they just use their bills as shovels to hoover up food For treats they love spinach, lettuce, small bits of tomato (as they are soft) and occasionally some of the hen's corn in a shallow dish. They mostly just have layers pellets to eat but find insects and snails to gobble up when they free range. They ate all of my borage plants though which I was surprised about... Luckily it self seeds well!! xx
batcatz
Hi, they love frozen peas and sweetcorn defrosted and thrown in their water.
Chortle Chook
Hi, they love frozen peas and sweetcorn defrosted and thrown in their water. I'm going to try that. So far I have not had much success with giving my ducks treats. They are nothing like as greedy as my chooks and to date have only really shown interest in meal worms, other than their pellets. I guess they are also enjoying grubs in the garden though as their beaks are often covered in mud
batcatz
Did it work? Wow, my ducks are greedy pigs and take a handful of spinach and scoff it. ha ha. They are also eating loads of snails.
Chortle Chook
Well they do lurve peas in their water but I haven't tired sweet corn in their bath yet. They deffinitely were not interested in sweetcorn out of water. I'm beginning to think they are more conservative than my chooks
