counturchickens
So we're moving soon to our new house with big garden We have an hen moving day plan, but when we do move should we confine them to the run for a while to get used to their surroundings or can they fr straight away? Egluntyne
I'd confine them for a couple of days at least. In any case you'll be too busy to chase after chickens that have gone AWOL.
AndreaT
You stole my question! I too am moving soon and I have no idea how I'm going to move the chooks. I've two WIRs and have no idea how I'm going to manage the logistics Just wondering what your plan for the move is counturchickens?
blueandwhite
Hi I moved 3 months ago, unfortunately I couldn't have my girls here straight away as garden wasn't secure. So I moved the eglu, run and girls to my sisters. Installed them there and she kept them in for a few days and let them out under strict supervision - they still managed to attack the rabbit! Once I got them back here I only kept them in for a day as they were desperate to get out. But it isn't a very big garden and they were fine. I was so worried about this and if it would upset them, but they seemed quite happy, slept through the car journeys and carried on laying throughout. Good luck with your moves. counturchickens
Sadly we're down to 2 girls at the moment so I've resisted the temptation to get any more. Luckily we have a spare house, which was our starter one, a chic cube with run. On moving day they're going in there whilst we move the cube and attach it to the wir which is being delivered on the day before. I've got my name down for 3 more ex batts in October, but might sneak a couple of hybrids in before then! Could you put all yours together for a day or two, then set up one run and do the same at the other end?
