Moving house with hens

Recommended Posts

Hi I moved 3 months ago, unfortunately I couldn't have my girls here straight away as garden wasn't secure. So I moved the eglu, run and girls to my sisters. Installed them there and she kept them in for a few days and let them out under strict supervision - they still managed to attack the rabbit! Once I got them back here I only kept them in for a day as they were desperate to get out. But it isn't a very big garden and they were fine. I was so worried about this and if it would upset them, but they seemed quite happy, slept through the car journeys and carried on laying throughout. Good luck with your moves.

Sadly we're down to 2 girls at the moment so I've resisted the temptation to get any more. Luckily we have a spare house, which was our starter one, a chic cube with run. On moving day they're going in there whilst we move the cube and attach it to the wir which is being delivered on the day before. I've got my name down for 3 more ex batts in October, but might sneak a couple of hybrids in before then!

Could you put all yours together for a day or two, then set up one run and do the same at the other end?
