Hi, I am wondering if anyone is any good at sexing Cochin's Via Looks, I thought I had purchased 2 Female Cochin's but one I am not so sure about, I have numerous pictures taken on the link below, and there are some older ones from a few weeks ago when they arrived. I have tried to get some with the other Cochin for comparison, I have no idea how old they are now but would hazard a guess at between 14-18 weeks.

 

 

I initially thought it was a juvenile molt with the lack of feathering but all my others look no where near as bad as Marli, They have been wormed and dusted so not sure whats going on?!?

 

Any Ideas greatly received.

Me too. I'd contact the breeder if you cannot keep him and see if they can swap him

Wow, I had a look at the photos too, but what is that stands out that make you say it's a boy ?

I'd be really interested to know.

Sorry for the delay in replying my Daughter has been poorly. I will contact the breeder and see what she says, I am happy to keep him provided he is not to aggressive, as I think introducing 2 new hens to my flock could be hard work/ traumatic /stressful. My neighbors have chickens and a rooster that crows from 4.30am so I should not get any complaints from the neighbors.

 

Thanks for all the replies- to the last poster - I posted previously about Marlis Lack of feathers and one of the reply's I got was that roosters take longer to feather in especially on the back/tail, and then Marli just seemed to redden and grow wattles at a much faster rate then any of the others which I felt was a bit odd.

 

I am going to email/call the breeder with the pics and see what she says.
