scubababe
I drink Aloe Vera & use a gel on guts & grazes. The gel is used on the dogs if they have any cuts/grazes/paw things. I use my plants on grazes/sunburn...almost anything Has anyone used Aloe Vera on chickens? It is one of natures greatest healers The thought was triggered by DM suggesting I used Hypercal on my girlies wound so I just thought if Hypercal can be used can my Aloe Vera
chucknette
I'm pretty certain you can. I would if my girls needed it. I have also seen it being sold on a poultry supplies site for wounds so I would definitely say its ok.
sandyhas3chucks
as with all species you must ensure the area is clean first as the drawing into action will draw dirt etc into the wound. this can result in a lot of pain. If you are unsure what I am saying try this,,, before applying to sunburn from being at seaside always shower or wash off the salt ... or you wont be happy Also I have applied to myself on a nasty open wound(this is recommended by suppliers) OMG it was clean but hell did it sting!!!! I therefore use with caution on animals Forever living recommend cleaning the wound with their wound spray first...?????????????????????????????? The Dogmother
Jules, I've used it before (I get the equine gel as it's more economical) on exposed skin and sealed it in with a coating of vaseline or Sudocrem. It's very soothing as you'd expect but doesn't seem to have the healing properties of HyperCal although I don't see why you couldn't use HyperCal to seal in Aloe Vera gel. I am currently using HyperCal on (DD) Rosie's nasty gravel burns that she got from a fall whilst jogging; they are healing up nicely and it is keeping the scabs soft to lessen cracking and scars; i will suggest that she used some Aloe gel underneath and will report back. The Dogmother
I wouldn't worry, she's used to it and I don't use anything on the hens that I haven't already tried out elsewhere. Lots of the meds we have are suitable for humans, dogs and hens.
