One of my girls (not an ex-batt) is just over three years old and has lost a lot of weight. She is picking at food but not eating much. Her comb went cold first and is now turning very pale. She has taken to standing in a corner with her head buried in her feathers.

 

Earlier this year she became very withdrawn and lost weight and I thought she was on her way out then but she picked up thankfully. She is worse this time though. I have just wormed her but any thoughts on what may be wrong would be appreicated.

Is she a hybrid? If so , this could be an old age thing. A lot do got this way I'm afraid..it could be peritonitis. Is her poo a bit like white water?

Hi, today was day 3 of worming regime - haven't wormed her regularly unfortunately.

 

She is not a hybrid - I got her from my sons school after they had been hatched out in the classroom.

 

Poo def more runny but not sure it is white. I have 2 ex batts in with her and they are fine.

Have a good check for red mite, it affects some more than others and the comb going very pale is a classic sign

 

Even if its not red mite a good tonic like the Nettex or Lifeguard ones would be a good idea

Thanks - you may be right. I have some louse killer so will give her (and the eglu) a dusting. My eyes are too bad to inspect her. I will also look into getting her a tonic. Fingers crossed!
