Hi all red mite sufferers. Just found this on the Pest Control Direct website, Poultry Keeper Range, Chicken House Fumer - twin pack £7.08. (01323 846845) (Sorry couldn't do the link thing.)

 

It seems that you seal up the house as best you can with tape etc with the fumer inside doing it's thing, leave for a couple of hours and then ventilate well. You then use the second one a week later. The chooks can go straight back in after each time.

 

Don't know if it works or not but may be worth a try? I'm going to get a pack for just in case.

I have used these before and they are good but need top be used with poultry shield and diatom.

I have some of these with all the other chicken bits and pieces.

 

I haven't tried these yet though, I would rather try and clean the coop out with poultry shield and diatom as the fumers contain a lot of chemicals. So they are a last resort if I feel beaten by red mite!

I have used these and found they were rubbish i thought i would give them ago after trying poultry shield and a roofing torch so now i have gone down the creosote route and its lovely to watch them all trying to get away and it kills them and the eggs too leanne

I dont see how you can seal up a coop enough for these to work, they need to be used in a really enclosed place and the fog needs to be kept sealed in for some time to work

 

If you ahve one then use it along with other treatments but dont rely on it to do the job alone
