Mr Rhode Island Red
Hi, I got news from the repair shop today that my trusty Sony Ericsson Vivaz is essentially unrepairable. The diagnosis was that the battery "leaked" after a resistor in the charger failed and it fried the whole electronics board. They said it would be unreasonable to try to repair it as they would have to replace all the "internal organs" of the phone and that it would be much more expensive than actually buying a new phone. So, I need to get a new phone. I have gone into several phone shops, but they almost always go into a mad tangent about switching me over to their network My main use for my phone is its camera. So I would need a very decent one (8 megapixels decent). That is what the Vivaz had. That is my only real criteria. The obvious choice would be an iPhone but that is way, way, WAAAY, outside my budget. And so are so many of its competitors such as the Samsung galaxy Siii. I have my eye on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. It has the 8mp and it had an average price of about €200 in the phone shops I visited. I would hope to spend €200 or less. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Only had it a week,& I am a big fan of HTC phones & the Android system so may be a little biased, but it is a fab phone & the camera is brilliant
Mr Rhode Island Red
Just checked it out, has everything I need but still quite expensive. €480(about £ 384) on vodafone ready-to-go
Snowy
Not sure about price, but the new Nokia Lumia 820 or 920 is supposed to have a superb camera. My son has the 800 and even that has an 8mp camera with Carl Zeiss lens.
chickric
Do you need to have the camera integrated with the phone? Couldn't you buy a small digital camera separately? They tend to have better optics than phone cameras (more important than just pixel count) and a proper optical zoom rather than just digital. Cinnamon
Sorry, didn't realise it was so expensive - mine was free with a very small contract upgrade via Vodafone.
