new curtains ANOTHER QUESTION

Recommended Posts

I ordered some curtains a couple of weeks ago from an old established company 20 miles away from us. We also purchased our new lounge carpet from them. Both items were quite expensive. We had to have the carpet fitters back today to refit the edge of the new carpet as we had to have some remedial work done on our new patio doors. When they came they brought our new curtains with them. This was a big thrill as we werent expecting them to arrive for another couple of weeks.

Anyway - when they hung them - they were far too long at the hem. (The shop's own curtain guy had been to measure up and told us when we got the new pole in place to measure again and confirm the length). I did this when I ordered them. The paper attached to the curtains however had a completely different measurement to either the one I quoted or the one the measurer had quoted. The chap who put them up rang them and we were told we can either try them as they are - arranged so they pool on the floor but if we want them shortening - to take them in and they will do it. What I am wondering is - if we do take them back to be shortened should I ask for a reduction in the price they quoted or just stand it? I feel a bit fed up cos they cost us £1050.00 and it will mean a 40 mile round trip for us to take them in. Sorry for the rant.

Sorry - another question Eyelets on curtains. How much bigger than the curtain pole should the eyelets be in order for them to draw smoothly?

I've got some ready made eyelet curtains on a thin pole and some on a thicker pole. The ones on my thicker pole have about 1/4" gap between bottom of eyelet and curtain I think. Can't see properly without getting a ladder out.
