I'm not sure what to do - please help

Recommended Posts

Ok, 2 weeks ago Queenie had a cold, got put on tylan, got better and moved back in with the other chicks.

On saturday all the chicks got put in with the 2 older chickens.

Today I heard one of the older chickens sneeze quite a big sneeze, she looked a bit shocked after, and the other older one sounded a tiny bit wheezy.

They are still running around and giving the chicks the odd peck, and don't particularly look poorly.

Now am I being over protective or should I take them to the vets ?

They have all been on the tylan anyway because I had some sachets left after Queenie.

I don't really want them all coming down with something especially as they are now all in together.

I have tonic and nutridrops, will any of these help?

Hi Luvachicken,

As Leanne says I'd just keep a close eye on them. Sometimes something just gets up their nose and just like us they sneeze it out! Monty my cockerel often sneezes after drinking!! Have you changed any thing like the run flooring?

It could be a little bit of stress with putting them all together. Just watch out for discharge from eyes or nose and any change in behaviour or appietite.

The usual boosters like tonic in their water can't do any harm and might help! Glad the intros are still going well! :D

Oooer, I posted, panicked and then went to the vets with Myrtle and Melody.

He said Myrtle wasn't too bad and Melody was pretty chesty.

He gave them some baytril to mix in the water 0.8 ml to 100 ml of water for 10 days.

They don't need to be separated and will all be on the water together from tomorrow. Didn't see much point mixing it now as it's almost dark.

These chickens.........worse than children.

Well done for acting on your instincts......you were obviously right!!!!! :D

I'm getting the odd sneeze here, but just keeping an eye on mine at the mo! They got to free range today, which they love!!! Dustbathing and flapping around the place!! With the shorter days I must make the most of my week off, as from now on I'll hardly see my gang, especially on my long work days! :( Roll on spring!!:lol: Hopefull that'll put an end to colds etc too!!!!!

Hope your gals are feeling better soon!!!!!
