Suzanne
I wash the eggs in water, dry them and date them. I saw on a site that they do have a solution to clean eggs. I did not think that was really necessary. Now my daughter is pregnant and I am concerned. Our girls are from Omlet and have been fully vaccinated. Any young Mums.... what do you think? Jules.
Eggs eaten in pregnancy have to be fully cooked. No runny eggs then until afterwards Watch out for things like chocolate mousse in restaurants etc too When I was pregnant I craved mussels & as they are shell fish I couldn't eat them. I had a whole packet from Sainsbury's to myself after the birth, bought by DS1
Snowy
As long as your daughter uses normal hygienic precautions she should be fine Suzanne! The egg washing is different though. Not sure why, but you shouldn't wash the eggs - I think that water can cause harmful bacteria on the shell to be absorbed. Better to rub of the worst of the dirt with dry kitchen roll. I'm sure someone else will have better information thatn this though!
Jules.
Washing eggs removes the bloom that stops bacteria getting into the egg. I think I went a bit off topic when I replied before

Cinnamon
If you do wash your eggs, then do it in hand hot water, as this stops any muck going through the shell & into the egg. I know eggs are sometimes so mucky that they do need a wsh,so do them quickly in warm water, dry with a clean bit of kitchen roll & you will be fine. Suzanne
Many thanks for all that info. Daughter seems less worried than I am. She is reading all the right books and is pretty relaxed about it all. Well Mum's can be a pain sometimes!
