I introduced 2 new 15 week old ladies to my existing 2 hens about 2-3 months ago, gradually at first. They seem to get along OK now, but the 2 newbies won't go in the Eglu - they're content to roost on a perch together, so I have to physially put all 4 in together when it's dark! Any tips on training them all to go in together?

It took mine several weeks to go to bed in their coop without help. I thought I'd never win, and even contemplated leaving them to it, but persevered, because I wanted them to have better shelter. Eventually, they did it by themselves, and go straight in now, without a hitch, even straight from the garden (which took another few weeks to achieve... )

 

You could leave them to it. A lot of folks do, and their chooks roost quite happily out in a relatively open space. My friend's chooks roost in the trees in her large enclosure, and have never slept indoors. It boils down to where you feel comfortable with them sleeping, their hardiness as a breed, and their security. If you want them to sleep in the coop, keep at it. They may be shy of the other chooks, but as you've been putting them in every night, and they've stayed put, they'll probably get the hang of it if you persist.

I'm still having to put one of my Polands to bed several weeks after getting her. I can't quite leave her to it after a Poland of mine vanished when I had to go away and could not get back till late. I do so hope that she will learn, eventually, to put herself to bed with the others. Perhaps when she gets a bit older

It took little Ivy three months before she would go to bed own, I didn't think she would ever catch on, it was a pain as I had to crawl into the cube run every night and then used to help her up the ladder. She laid her first few eggs in the run as well but then suddenly one night she went up on her own and hasn't looked back. I think coming into lay helped. I'm sure yours will eventually get the hang of it.
