Decided to buy a new freeview TV for the bedroom and OH fixed it to the external aerial in the loft, the same aerial that supplies the kitchen TV that works perfectly.

 

The new TV would not tune in and we kept getting the message - "weak or no signal", despite the other TV working perfectly.

 

OH bought a larger new aerial to boost the signal and initially the new TV worked - in the mornings - and then reverted back to the message "weak or no signal" later in the day.

 

Next the TV lost all the previously tuned channels and when we tuned it again, we got some channels, but no BBC channels!

 

Now it doesn't want to work at all - the one downstairs continues to work perfectly!

 

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Have you tried unattatching the one downstairs to see if it's hogging all the signal?

Yes we have. We even brought the new TV downstairs and plugged it into the downstairs aerial and it STILL doesn't work! Very frustrating.

How did he attach the other TV to the aerial? If he has just added another wire to the aerial, it won't work, you need a powered splitter, like this or this

It seems that the new TV has an aerial all of its own!
