Pick on Queenie day

Recommended Posts

Queenie has been laying eggs for a while now and on New Years Day Melody decided to join in. But I think Melody's egg laying is making her very grumpy. She had been really quite spiteful to poor Queenie - she has a couple of scratches on her comb. Melody has even sat on her and squashed her. Queenie has taken to sitting on the top of the bench to keep out of the way. That was yesterday.

Today, things have been a bit easier for Queenie but that was because a couple of the others got it in the neck instead. They have all got on so well until now.

What has happened to Melody ?

I'm beginning to really not like her at the moment :(

Hi Luvachicken!! It could be that now they are coming in to lay they need to sort out the pecking order. I'm having similar issues since Monty died :(

Milly has always been mean but has really been picking on the "babies" even though they are bigger than her!!!They only have to be near her or catch her eye and.... peck she goes for them  She has taken slices out of all 3 youngsters feathers :( !!! Then today Martha laid her first egg!!!!!! Well, Milly's not happy about that, so she got pecked at even more !!! Poor Martha is the biggest but so sweet she just runs!!

I have a feeling that Milly is going to be a free loader hen as she hasn't laid since oct!!!! She looks really well and finished her moult ages ago!!!

Well I'm off to see a potential suitor cockerel tomorrow!!!! So Milly may soon be put back in her place :shameonu: But dreading more intros :anxious:

On a positive note mine having been enjoying free ranging, horray let's hope this dry spell continues!!! But boo hoo I have to go back to work on mon...so not so many chances for free ranging and back to-off before they're up and back after they've gone to bed :(
