Film/docu re Facebook relationships - "Catfish"

Recommended Posts

Did anyone see this film/documentary? I found it riveting but quite unsettling and sad. In case you haven't heard of it, it's a documentary about the development of a relationship started on Facebook.

Seems it's opened a whole can of worms and there's going to be a series on MTV later this month made by the same guys who made the film.

Sounds interesting. My Hubby and I met over CB radio 30 years ago, and my DS is currently talking to a girl in The US who he 'met' through a YouTube collaboration channel. They have become very fond of each other over the past six months and we are thinking of going out there in the summer so that they can spend some time together. They are both 16 and I was 16 and hubby was 18 when we first spoke, we didn't actually meet for 7 months and didn't even know what each other looked like. DS speaks to his girlfriend on Skype therefore he does know what she looks like. She sent him a mug that she had made herself for Christmas, and he sent her an ebook of his favourite book. We shall see where it leads in the future, but it worked for us. Time will tell.

I thought it was fascinating. Watched The Imposter last night - brilliant story about stolen identitiy. You couldn;t make it up!

I've just watched that too :D . In fact, I watched it twice in one night (watched it early evening, then woke up coughing in the middle of the night, YS was still up so we watched it together). You really couldn't make it up, you're right. We kept shouting at the telly  .
