scanes
Hi, We are 3 Essex Chickens who will need to be re-housed before November this year due to our owners emigrating to Australia. We come with our own funky green eglu & run with winter & summer shade, glug & grub containers with 2 spares and Chicken cosmetics like red mite powder and wormer etc. Our names are Sadie (speckledy of 2 years and leader of the pack), Pepper (18 month old, gingernut ranger) & Yolko (18 month old, gingernut ranger). We are friendly, charming and inquisitive and lay plenty of great eggs. Our owners would ideally like us to be relocated with an experienced Chicken friendly family but this is not a necessity. We are no trouble, do not squabble or fight and would relish mixing with other chickens prospective new owners may have. Would anybody like to make an offer to our Owners for either just us and/or all the eglu equipment We would be looking to relocate in a few months time so would there be any takers. Ideally we would like to live locally so that we do not have to travel far in a car in those horid boxes but again, this is not a necessity, as long as the right home is found as our owners are very protective of us !. We look forward to any replies or alternatively you can contact our lovely owners Neil & Michelle via PM or by e-mailing barbara@omlet.co.uk who will pass on your message to them. Thanks, we hope to hear from somebody soon.

Olly
I'm delighted to say that I've just learned that adoption has been approved, I will have to change my signature! I did start out thinking I'd just adopt the hens, but then realised five would be a bit squashed in one Eglu ... so the plan now is to have two Eglus side-by-side, so they can get to know each other ... and then move on to a CUBE! I knew it would be only a matter of time. Understandably, Neil and Michelle don't want to part with their feathery friends until just before they leave for Australia, so they will come to me in October - gives me time to sort out the Eglu area. I am very excited ... and to think that until February, I'd never even held a chicken! This site should come with a health-warning - chicken-keeping can become addictive. Olly
Thank you all for your kind wishes! I honestly never thought I would get this 'into' chickens ... but really, they are so little trouble to look after that it seems a shame not to have one or two more! (I'm conveniently ignoring the fact that three more chickens means a 150% increase in the amount of poo I will have to dispose of. I need another composter already). I used to read about other people on here getting more, and think 'no, that will never be me'. I'm only doing it for the eggs, honest
Hen Watch
Congratulations Olly. My 4 poop for England, treat yourself to a large compost bin, you'll need it.......
xScrunchee
That's brilliant Olly. Being sensible we just haven't got the money or the room for more. If it was just for the fact that OH wasn't keen I wouldn't let it stop me but if I think about it seriously-we really haven't got a big enough garden for another Eglu. If I could I would have a sig like Lesley with a rainbow of Eglus and maybe even a rainbow of cubes but alas-I will have to stick with my one green one. Still, I love my girls and there's no harm in dreaming is there?
mountainboarddude
congratulations on getting the chicks, time will probably go really quickly to novemeber.
Olly
Still, I love my girls and there's no harm in dreaming is there? Absolutely not! If you've got room for an Eglu, I bet you could fit a Cube in eventually! I am very, very lucky to have a large enough garden to fit two Eglus in, and to be able to afford the second one. I wanted a Speckledy, and these girls are so near, it seems like fate, really. I've had lots of cats over the years, and I have hardly ever chosen one; they turn up through friends or colleagues ('he doesn't get on with the new baby'; 'I'm going abroad'; 'she needs a home'). I'm a great believer in fate - so if you are destined to have more chickens, you will eventually!
xScrunchee
I agree Olly-if things are meant to be they will be. Who knows what's around the corner. I certainly won't give up hope anyway Never dreamed that I would catch the 'bug' and want more. People say that chicken keeping is addictive-never really believed how true that is untill recently!!
