Parents evenings (the unsaid things)

Recommended Posts

Recent parents evening with YS year 7 (11 yrs old) made me think about what we dont say.

1 Design Technology - includes cooking.

Teacher - L is very at home in the kitchen, unlike some of the kids he doesnt panic.

Me - Yes well thats because he spends most of his time in mine - hes a human hyena - scavenging for food.

2 History

Teacher - hes always alert and manages to stay awake (yes really!)

Me - you mean you bore them so much they nod off

3 PE

Teacher - hes doing great in rugby and we have no kit issues - always has full kit which someone obvioulsy sees too (looking at me and grinning)

Me - yes thats cos muggins here works her socks off mate making sure its clean, mud free and ironed.

All the comments from the teachers are true - mine were un- uttered. Its not easy being a teacher - but OH and I were amazed at the humour in some of the comments we got.

My OD had her first parents evening before Christmas. She was 18 months old, and was with her Key Worker at nursery! Even then it was a "political minefield"!

KW: She really emjoys her food

Me: Eats like a flippin gannet - and you have told me before she steals other kids food off their plates

KW: She is very good at communication

Me: You mean she screams like a banshee when she doesn't get what she wants!

40mins this meeting lasted - I can't remember everything, but it was like walking a plank for the poor key worker! Did feel sorry for her... Although I found it quite amusing!
