What Are Your Chickens Weirdest Food Fettishes?

Recommended Posts

My 2 seem to have a sweet tooth - they love grapes, strawberries and watermelon, but will not touch brocoli, and turn around in disgust if I offer brocoli to them.

They also love corn, which we scatter on the ground at night.

Geraldine also has developed a taste for whatever she can find in the garden - slugs, worms etc. Although, the other day I noticed she had a dead frog (whole, just the end of the leg in her beak), which me and my hubby retrieved. It appears she dug it up, I don't know what she would have ended up with if we hadn't noticed and let her eat it.

Also, they seem to peck at their own poo, but not eat it. :vom:

When it was discussed a while ago people thought the fat balls were bad for chickens as so fatty.

There were some chickens on the forum who ate silicon sealant

Mine like red food. Have you ever seen one chicken find something tasty that they can't eat in one go and run round the garden in circles chased by the others?

It's usually a huge worm or mouse, or something gross. :vom:

A shrew. Even the cats won't eat them. And it wasn't dead when they started.

I was wondering about the fat balls being bad for them - is it because it will make them fat or because of the ingredients? Having seen how much exercise my hens get I wouldn't have thought there was too much worry about them getting fat

GRAPES white ones!!!

Not red

Except Tullula who likes red one :?

They run around after each other so we have to give enough to go around!

:( sad thing is we have a vine in our garden, red grapes only, someone called "Sod" wrote a law about that!
