Lavenders_Blue
Tortoises are surprisingly speedy! He's not reached terminal velocity in this video as he was rather hampered by the long grass. Of course he could have chosen to walk across the freshly cut lawn, but instead chose to bash his way through the patch we leave uncut for the wildlife. On the occasions when he does manage to escape, he's up off the road like a greyhound!

Lavenders_Blue
He's had a number of dramatic rescues in the past, including being brought home in an AA van, and another time in the basket of someone's bicycle. In the house I lived in as a child we lived a couple of hundred yards from a pub and he was found in there on more than one occasion!
