Worried about Queenie, advice needed please

Recommended Posts

I mentioned before that Queenie had a pale comb a couple of days ago.

Yesterday, for their supper, I gave them some dried mealworms. Queenie was fine but after she ate one she seemed to cough, like it was stuck, she did it a bit more and then they all went to bed.

When I let them out this morning she seemed ok but I had to go to work.

I got back at lunchthime and she didn't seem very busy. I watched her for a while and she seemed happy just sat - not particularly hunched.

I gave her some nutridrops and have brought her indoors. She breathes through an open beak and seems to breathe hard.

She keeps making a noise a bit like a demented goose :(

Could she have got a meal worm stuck or might she have something else ?

Queenie has tucked into some corn and mealworms, some pellets and some water.

She also had a cooked mini sweetcorn which she really enjoyed.

She looks a bit perkier but still makes a noise like a goose every now and then - just when I think she has stopped she does it.

It could be a cough any sneezing?? If you hold her and pop her up to your ear, listen between her shoulder blades. If you can her any rattling or wheezing she may need antibiotics.

Nutridrops are given once a day. I have given them in the morning or evening...not sure what's best  Keep an eye on her...as we know they can go downhill very fast :(

Did you worm the girls recently?? If not try that first.

I hope Queenie will be ok!!! They are a worry :anxious:

Yes Mimi I wormed them in March.

She only has a little bit of a cough now. I do think something may have been stuck. I can't hear any wheezing and her breathing isn't through her beak any more or as laboured looking.

She is still in our lounge and tonight was tucking into half a corn cob, a small chicken cake, some treats and her food.

She has had 2 lots of nutridrops so far and I'm hoping this will do the trick. Finger's crossed.
