Chicken boarders

Hello

2 years ago we purchased a Go and 2 chickens (ponyo & Abigail)....shortly after a large walk in enclosure...due too our dog the chickens cannot free range.

 

As they are not laying so frequently we purchased 2 more on Saturday (Hilda & Winifred)...we carefully split the enclosure in half - fencing it off but only at shoulder height (I was convinced they would fly over but husband said all would be OK). Last night Ponyo and Abigail asleep in the Go, Winifred in the box and Hilda purchased on the fence....

 

Today I go to give treats and find 3 chickens on one side of the fence happily together...so I take the fence down...Any time the pecking starts (mainly Ponyo) the dog rushes around the enclosure..this seems to distract them and stop the pecking...so a high perch has been installed and Hilda is already on it ready for bed and the dog is on guard duty....

 

We also got 2 eggs today ....1 from the old pair and very cute little 1 from the new....

Congratulations on the new girls . Intros can be a nightmare so you're very lucky to have such a useful dog .
