Can anyone suggest how to go about taming Orpington Bantams ? I got them just over 2 weeks ago and they are now in with my 2 large hybrids in a large WIR.

 

They love meal worms so I was thinking I would try hand feeding them but how do I keep the hybrids at bay while I do this as they love meal worms too

 

Should I attempt to pick them up and cuddle them too ?

In my experience, hens will follow what the others/top hen does

So let your hybrids come for treats etc and the bantams will learn that you're not a threat and follow suit

I always sit down to do this and let them clamber over me

As long as you spend a lot of time with them, getting them used to you and being picked up and them associated with you, they'll settle down.

 

Sweetcorn, grapes and mealworms will help!

 

Are they laying yet? They usually calm down once they start laying too
