Poorly chook

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Caroline, I hoping someone will be be able to give me some advice - I have a year old dark sussex (Myrtle).

About a week and a half ago she started becoming very unsteady on her feet, a bit like she'd been at the Gin !, and looking like she couldn't focus properly, moving her head from side to side and looking up. She's not walking as she should, sometimes she even sits down. She is still laying and eating.I have had to move her away from the other girls as one in particular is really picking on her and she can't get away quickly enough. We have looked into her ears and cleaned them gently but there no obvious signs of anything wrong.

I wonder if anyone has come across this before and could let me know before I take her to the vets.

Many thanks

Well we took Myrtle to the vets, who thought it might be an inner ear infection. A cortisone and anti-biotic injection and anti-biotic for three days and she's certainly made an improvement. I will put her back with the other 7 girls at the weekend and keep my fingers crossed.

Thank you for your concerns Plum.
