Ain't Nobody Here
ES got a new computer for his 21st so OH is getting his old one. So that I can get rid of ES's stuff and download all the software OH wants, is there a way to link the PC up to my laptop so I can use the monitor and keyboard to access the PC? It's only a temporary measure so I don't really want to have to spend a lot on any cables or anything.
Geoid
Yes, but it's a bit of a palaver. You would have to take the hard drive out, hook it up to a hard drive enclosure so you can then connect it to your laptop. If you just want to install a fresh copy of windows (or whatever) you could format the drive (easy to do if you have a recovery CD) Edited June 24, 2013 by Guest

kissinuk
Not sure what you are asking, do you want to copy files from the old pc or just 'control' it from your laptop? If the former then you can enable file sharing over your wifi network and connect that way (or just copy files to a USB drive) http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/file-sharing-essentials If its the latter then you can use Remote Desktop, this lets you control the other pc as if you were sitting at it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/connect-to-another-computer-using-remote-desktop-connection You can even control it from an iPad if you use an app like Splashtop.
