Chicken bald back

Hello!

 

I used to be on the forum a while ago, but its been so long since I have been on that my account doesn't seem to exist any more!

 

Anyhoo......I am the proud keeper of 4 Pekin Bantam ladies..... 1 x Lavender ...called Lavender 1 x Black and white Mottled show Pekin called Edwyna, 1 x Porcelain...nameless at the mo - so could do with some name suggestions and 1 x Silver Partridge called duster (aka Broody!).

 

I have a lovely purple eglu classic which I am hoping to upgrade to the cube if I can find someone willing to part ex (can't remember how to get the pictures of the eglu's on here!) and this lives in a lovely 6ft x 9ft WIR

 

I will be seeking both some more advice and some ideas also later on...but for now hello and I will try and upload some pics of my girls (if I can remember how!)

I have 3 pekin bantams and they are just adorable. I hope yours bring you lots of joy ..... and eggs

Mind you, one of mine spends more time broody than being anything else

 

And I have found a use for the radiator airer thing I got for Christmas and have never used - thanks

I am considering giving my broody some hatching eggs to give her a job as she is a useless egg layer!

 

Hoping to get some Lemon Pekins if I can as my friend is currently hatching some Chocolates so if I can get some soon we're going to swap a hen each so we can expand our colour collection! Just a little worried what to do with the boys and also I've never hatched before AND I am expecting my own baby in the next 8 weeks so not sure if it will be too much work...but we'll see

I think the chooks and I are in the same boat - its so hot and there is NO way to cool down haha!

 

I'm going to give the ice cube with raisins a go tomorrow as see what happens...might even have a few myself haha!!

Really? They are lovely birds to have around, not the most prolific layers in the world and they do tend to go broody time to time but in terms of ease of keeping they are great! No grass scratching, gentle characters and small enough for you to keep lots
