menagerie
One of my chickens just ate a largish piece of plastic (i think a piece of silicon sealant type stuff). Is there anything I can do or will she die? I can't believe she just did that.
Mrs Frugal
Clarry did that 2 years ago and is still with us and still every bit as daft!! Keep an eye out for signs of illness but she'll probably be fine. A sick hen will look all hunched and puffed up. If you're at all worried, post here and someone will be along to help you but they do eat the most unsuitable things and survive.
menagerie
Thanks Kate. I can just picture it getting stuck in her innards and messing her up - I'm panicking a bit now. Whoever designed an animal that eats stuff that isn't edible. Stupid stupid Henrietta.
Mrs Frugal
They are bird brains, aren't they. They really do eat the most unusual things and survive. Think that they eat stones as part of their normal routine so the plastic will probably go straight through her.

craftyhunnypie
Ooops! Just watch her poops don't come out shrink wrapped! I think she will be ok tho - just watch that the plastic is passed ok. Emma.x
Laura & CTB
Mine used to eat silicone at every opportunity - it never did them any harm although thankfully they have now got bored with trying to pull the windows out
menagerie
Hi, I've been keeping an eye on her today. She seems the same as normal - eating, jumping, flapping and dust bathing. I've been picking through her poo though and no sign of the plastic.
