Butter making,a question for Lesley maybe!

Recommended Posts

I was always considered odd - I became a single Mum through no choice of my own and lived on a small council housing estate. I made bread, butter, yoghurt, jams and chutneys etc.. I used to take my children on nature rambles and go hedgerow foraging for wild foods an dwas looked upon with great suspicion :D

My children never seemed to worry and now they are grown up they mostly think it is 8) although sometimes i get :roll: instead :D

Luckily Carl and I agree on all aspects of self-sufficiency so i don't get too many :roll: from him.

Another question about butter, sorry :?

This probably seems an even more stupidquestion to you clever girls who have this make your own down to an art.

I left my little butter pat out all night so that when I made the packed lunch it would spread. IT STILL WOULD NOT :!: All I ended up with was torn bread

I can't get it to spread. Am I not doing this right. It is rock hard. Toast is about all it can cope with, then I have to leave it to melt.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong :?: I have questions about home made pasta as well, but I'll get the butter sorted first.
